Language options on a Bafang DP C18 / DP C07 / DP C10

Bafang DP C18 / DP C07 / DP C10 (BBS02, BBSHD, M-series)

The honest answer: the DP C18 family is English-only. There is no language menu, and the few words it shows (TRIP, ODO, Setting) are the same worldwide.

Step by step

  1. Switch the display on, then press and hold + and − together for about 2 seconds until the Setting menu appears (Display Setting / Information / Exit).
  2. Open Display Setting and scroll through every item: Unit, Brightness, Auto Off, Max PAS, Set Clock, Password, Trip Reset. There is no Language entry on standard firmware.
  3. If you need km/h rather than mph, that is the Unit item, not language.
  4. Exit the menu.
  5. For a display with real language selection in the Bafang range, look at the 850C/860C colour displays or the DP C221 (English, German, Dutch, French, Italian on newer firmware).
Tip: Almost everything on the DP C18 is an icon or a number, so a Dutch, German or French rider loses nothing. The error codes (e.g. 21, 30) are numbers; look them up here on ebikecodes.

Can't find it?

Some OEM builds (e.g. certain German trekking brands) ship a custom DP C18 firmware with German menu text; that cannot be switched to English on the handlebar either. If someone sold you a 'multilingual DP C18', check it is not actually a DP C221 or 850C.

Frequently asked

Can the dealer install another language?

No. The BESST tool updates firmware but Bafang publishes no other language packs for the DP C18.

What do the abbreviations mean?

TRIP = trip distance, ODO = total distance, AVG = average speed, MAX = maximum speed, PAS = pedal-assist level.

Does °C/°F change with language?

Temperature follows the Unit setting: Metric shows °C, Imperial shows °F.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
