How to change the speed unit on a Bafang DP C18, DP C07 or DP C10 display
The unit (Metric km/h or Imperial mph) lives in the Display Setting menu of the DP C18 family. It takes six button presses and does not affect any motor setting.
Step by step
- Switch the display on, then press and hold + and − together for about 2 seconds until the Setting menu appears (Display Setting / Information / Exit).
- Press + or − to highlight Display Setting and press the power button (short press) to open it.
- Scroll with − to Unit and press power to select it. The current value (Metric or Imperial) flashes.
- Press + or − to switch between Metric (km/h, km, °C) and Imperial (mph, miles, °F).
- Press power once to confirm the value.
- Scroll to Exit (or Back) and press power, then Exit again to return to the riding screen. The speed, trip and odometer now show in the new unit.
- Ride a few metres and check the speed field: it should read km/h or mph next to the digits.
Can't find it?
If holding + and − opens the light or walk mode instead, you released one button too early: both must be held together for the full 2 seconds. Some DP C07 firmware calls the item 'Unit' under 'General'; on very early DP C18 firmware it is called 'Metric/Imperial'.
Frequently asked
Does changing to mph change the speed limit?
No. The speed limit is stored as a number in the controller; 25 km/h simply shows as 15.5 mph. Changing the unit alone never makes the bike faster or slower.
Why does the speed look wrong after switching units?
Check that Wheel Size under Information still matches the bike. A wrong wheel size shows up as speed reading 5–10 % off in either unit.
Can I show km/h and mph at the same time?
No, the DP C18 shows one unit. You can switch back any time with the same six presses.
