How to reset TRIP distance on a Bafang DP C18 / DP C07
The short-press of the power button cycles TRIP, ODO, MAX speed and AVG speed. Resetting TRIP is a menu item on most DP C18 firmware; on the rest it clears automatically at power-off.
Step by step
- Switch the display on, then press and hold + and − together for about 2 seconds until the Setting menu appears (Display Setting / Information / Exit).
- Open Display Setting.
- Scroll to Trip Reset (older firmware: 'TRIP' or 'Clear Trip') and press power.
- Choose Yes with + or − and confirm with power.
- Exit the menu. Press the power button briefly to cycle to TRIP: it should read 0.0 km / 0.0 mi.
- If there is no Trip Reset item: switch the display off and on again. On that firmware TRIP always starts at zero after a power cycle.
Can't find it?
If your display shows 'TRIP' with a small 'A' next to it, the DP C07 firmware automatically clears it after the bike sits unpowered for a set time (Auto Off value). Set Auto Off to a higher number if you want the trip kept between coffee stops.
Frequently asked
Does resetting TRIP also reset AVG and MAX speed?
Yes, on the DP C18 trip reset clears trip distance, trip time, average and maximum speed together.
Can I reset the odometer (ODO)?
Not from the handlebar. ODO is total distance for the life of the display; a dealer with BESST can zero it, but there is rarely a reason to.
The trip counter resets by itself, is it broken?
No. On firmware without a Trip Reset menu item the trip clears on every power-off by design.
