Change the language on a Shimano STEPS SC-E5000 or SC-E5003
Six languages are built in and the switch is in the display menu.
Step by step
- Stop the bike and switch it on. Press and hold the small function button on the display for about two seconds until the [Setting] menu appears.
- Short presses of the function button move through the items; a long press selects. If a SW-E6000 switch is fitted you can also scroll with X and Y and confirm with A.
- Move to [Language] and long-press.
- Choose English, French, German, Dutch, Italian or Spanish and long-press.
- Move to [Exit] and long-press.
Tip: Can't read the current language? [Language] is the item directly after [Unit] (the one showing km/mile).
Can't find it?
No [Language] item: your bike brand removed it from the menu. On an SC-E5003 use E-TUBE Project on your phone; on an SC-E5000 a dealer sets it over the wired connection.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
