Reset the trip counter on a Shimano STEPS SC-E5000 or SC-E5003
Trip distance (DST) and ride time are cleared with [Clear] in the settings menu. The odometer cannot be reset.
Step by step
- Stop the bike and switch it on. Press and hold the small function button on the display for about two seconds until the [Setting] menu appears.
- Short presses of the function button move through the items; a long press selects. If a SW-E6000 switch is fitted you can also scroll with X and Y and confirm with A.
- Move to [Clear] and long-press.
- Confirm with another long press. DST, TIME and AVG return to zero.
- Move to [Exit] and long-press.
Tip: On many SC-E5000 firmware versions you can also reset from the ride screen: show DST, then hold the function button until it drops to zero.
Can't find it?
No [Clear] item: the brand disabled it. E-TUBE Ride (SC-E5003 only) keeps its own ride log you can restart any time.
Frequently asked
Can I reset ODO on the SC-E5000?
No. ODO is stored in the drive unit and is not user-resettable, which protects buyers of second-hand bikes.
Trip resets by itself every ride.
Some firmware auto-clears DST after a long power-off. A dealer can toggle this in E-TUBE Project.
Does the range estimate reset?
No, it is calculated live.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
