Bosch Purion: change the display language
The classic Purion (BUI210/215) shows almost only numbers and the mode names ECO, TOUR, SPORT, TURBO, so most firmware has nothing to translate. Later firmware does have a 'Language' item in the settings menu. Two minutes, no dealer needed.
Step by step
- Switch the bike on with the power button on the Purion.
- Press and hold the − button for about 1 second until the settings menu appears (the ride screen is replaced by a list).
- Press + or − to step through the items: 'Trip reset', 'km/mi', 'Wheel', 'Language' (only on later firmware), 'Version'.
- Stop on 'Language', then use + / − to pick English (or your language). The change applies immediately.
- Press and hold − for about 1 second again to leave the menu and return to the ride screen.
Can't find it?
If there is no 'Language' entry, your Purion firmware simply has no language option: everything on screen (speed, range, ECO/TOUR/SPORT/TURBO) reads the same in every language, so nothing is lost. A dealer can update the firmware with DiagnosticTool, but on the Purion that does not add a menu that isn't there.
Frequently asked
Why is there no language setting on my Purion?
Because the display shows numbers and abbreviations only. Bosch added a language item on later Purion firmware, but on many units there is nothing to translate.
Does the Purion show 'RANGE' and 'TRIP' in English only?
Yes. Those labels are fixed abbreviations and are the same on every Purion regardless of any language setting.
Can the dealer change the language for me?
If your firmware has the option, you can do it yourself in the settings menu. A dealer can update the firmware via DiagnosticTool but cannot add a language menu that the unit does not support.
