Bosch Purion: enable and use walk assist

Bosch Purion

Walk assist pushes the bike at walking pace (up to 6 km/h) while you walk beside it. It is built in and needs no setup; you use two buttons on the Purion.

Step by step

  1. Switch the bike on and make sure a mode other than OFF is selected (ECO is enough).
  2. Press the WALK button on the front of the Purion once. 'WALK' appears on the screen; the function is armed for a few seconds.
  3. Now press and hold the + button. The motor drives the bike forward at walking speed as long as you hold +.
  4. Release + to stop. If you wait more than a few seconds after pressing WALK, press WALK again first.
  5. Walk assist switches itself off when the wheel is blocked, when you press −, or when you exceed 6 km/h.
Tip: In the highest mode walk assist pushes noticeably harder, which helps on a ramp with a loaded bike.

Can't find it?

If nothing happens: the mode is OFF (select ECO first), the WALK press timed out, or on some bikes the manufacturer has disabled walk assist for that market; a dealer can check that in DiagnosticTool. Walk assist is not allowed while riding.

Frequently asked

How fast does walk assist go?

Up to 6 km/h, the legal limit for a push-assist function; it is slower on steep ramps and in a low mode.

Can I use walk assist as a throttle while riding?

No. It is only active while you hold +, only up to 6 km/h and stops as soon as the bike goes faster.

Does walk assist work in reverse?

No, forward only.
