Bosch Purion: turn the lights on and off, always-on lights

Bosch Purion

The Purion has a dedicated light button. Whether the lights can be switched off at all depends on how the bike manufacturer configured the drive unit. No app involved.

Step by step

  1. Switch the bike on.
  2. Press the light button (bulb icon) on the Purion. A light symbol appears at the top of the screen and the display backlight comes on.
  3. Press the light button again to switch the lights off.
  4. If the lights come on with the bike and the button does nothing, the bike is configured for always-on lights (common on city bikes in NL/DE/DK). That is set in DiagnosticTool by the dealer, not in a Purion menu.
  5. Lights that flicker or fail while the symbol is on are a wiring or lamp fault, not a setting.
Tip: Leaving the lights on in daytime costs almost no range: a modern LED set draws around 3 W against several hundred watts for the motor.

Can't find it?

The Purion has no 'auto' light mode of its own; automatic (sensor-based) lighting is a feature of certain lamps and of the Smart System. If the light button prints an error code, look that code up on our error-code pages.

Frequently asked

Can I set the Purion lights to switch on automatically?

Not from the Purion. Always-on is a dealer setting; light-sensor automatic switching needs a lamp that supports it.

Why do my lights stay on even when I press the button?

The manufacturer configured always-on lighting for your market; a dealer can change it in DiagnosticTool if the local rules allow.

Do the lights run from the main battery?

Yes, on a Bosch system the lamps are powered by the drive unit from the main battery.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
