Bosch Purion: change assist modes (ECO, TOUR, SPORT, TURBO)

Bosch Purion

On the Purion you change modes with + and − while riding; the modes themselves are fixed by Bosch and cannot be customised on this Classic Line display. No dealer or app needed to use them.

Step by step

  1. Switch the bike on. The current mode is shown at the bottom of the screen (OFF, ECO, TOUR, SPORT or TURBO).
  2. Press + once to go one level up (more support), − to go one level down. You can do this while pedalling.
  3. Below ECO is OFF: the motor gives no support but the display keeps working.
  4. Some Purion bikes show eMTB instead of SPORT; that is a drive-unit setting a dealer chooses, not something you toggle.
  5. There is no menu for adjusting how strong each mode is; the Purion only selects between the Bosch factory modes.
Tip: Ride in TOUR most of the time and drop to ECO when the range display starts to worry you: Purion range estimates react to the mode you are in, so you can see the effect immediately.

Can't find it?

If you only see ECO/TOUR/TURBO or a different set, the drive unit firmware or motor generation defines the available modes. A dealer can enable eMTB on suitable Performance CX motors with DiagnosticTool; custom modes with adjustable support are only available on the Smart System via the eBike Flow app.

Frequently asked

Can I make TURBO stronger or ECO weaker on the Purion?

No. On the Classic Line the support factors are fixed by Bosch. Only the Smart System (eBike Flow app) allows customising modes.

Why does my bike have eMTB instead of SPORT?

eMTB is an adaptive mode for Performance Line CX motors; a dealer can switch a bike between SPORT and eMTB in DiagnosticTool.

What is OFF used for?

OFF lets you ride without support but with the display and lights still working, for example to save battery on the last kilometres.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
