Bosch Purion: check the software version and get a firmware update
You can read the display and drive unit versions in the settings menu, but updates on the Purion are dealer-only: they are installed over the diagnostic cable with Bosch DiagnosticTool. Ten minutes at a dealer.
Step by step
- Switch the bike on and hold the − button for about 1 second to open the settings menu.
- Step with + / − to 'Version' (older firmware: 'Displ. vX.X' and 'DU vX.X' as separate items). Note the numbers.
- Hold − for about 1 second to leave the menu.
- Contact a Bosch dealer; they connect DiagnosticTool to the diagnostic port near the drive unit and install the current firmware for display, drive unit and battery in one session.
- After the update, check units and (if present) language; an update can reset these to defaults.
Can't find it?
If 'Version' is missing, your firmware predates that menu item; the dealer can still read and update it. Updates can't be done via an app on the classic Purion because it has no Bluetooth.
Frequently asked
Can I update the Purion firmware myself?
No. Classic Line updates require the Bosch DiagnosticTool and a diagnostic cable, which only certified dealers have.
Will an update fix an error code?
Sometimes. Several Classic Line error codes were addressed in firmware; the dealer reads the fault memory at the same time.
Does an update erase my total kilometres?
No. The odometer lives in the drive unit and is kept.
