Bosch Purion: reset the trip distance and average speed

Bosch Purion

Resetting the trip on a Purion takes ten seconds in the settings menu. Only the trip values are cleared; the total distance (odometer) stays.

Step by step

  1. Switch the bike on.
  2. Press and hold the − button for about 1 second until the settings menu opens.
  3. The first item is 'Trip reset' (older firmware: 'Reset trip').
  4. Press + to reset. TRIP distance, ride time and average speed return to zero.
  5. Press and hold − for about 1 second to leave the menu.
Tip: Reset the trip before a long ride and the TRIP screen becomes a simple range check: compare kilometres ridden with battery bars used.

Can't find it?

If pressing + does nothing, you are on a different item; step back with − until 'Trip reset' is highlighted. The total distance cannot be reset on any Bosch display, by design.

Frequently asked

Can I reset the total kilometres on a Purion?

No. The odometer is deliberately non-resettable on Bosch displays, which is why it is useful as a reference when buying second-hand.

Does a firmware update reset my trip or total distance?

Trip values may clear; total distance is kept in the drive unit.

What is the difference between TRIP and TOTAL on the Purion?

TRIP is the resettable distance since the last reset; TOTAL is the lifetime distance of the bike.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
