How to use walk assist on an Aventon e-bike
Walk mode pushes the bike at about 6 km/h (4 mph) while you hold a button. Handy for the heavy Aventure and Abound.
Step by step
- With the display on, press and hold '-' for about 2 seconds.
- The display shows a walking icon and the motor starts pushing at walking speed.
- Keep '-' held; release to stop.
- Walk mode is available in any PAS level; on some firmware it needs level 1 or above.
- Brake levers cut walk mode immediately.
Tip: Walk mode is not a throttle; it will not go faster than 6 km/h whatever you do.
Can't find it?
If holding '-' only lowers the level, go to level 0 and hold again for 3 seconds. On the original Pace 350 there is no walk mode.
Frequently asked
Walk mode does not engage.
Check the brake sensors are not slightly pulled (adjust the lever free play) and the display is not in Settings.
Can I use the throttle instead?
Yes on class-2 models, but with no speed cap; be careful on ramps.
Is walk mode legal in the EU?
Yes; the 6 km/h push assist is allowed.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
