How to turn the lights on and off on an Aventon e-bike

Aventon colour display (Level, Pace, Aventure, Soltera) + Aventon app

Integrated lights are switched from the display with a long press; the tail light on Aventure.2, Level.2 and later also works as a brake light and turn signals on some models.

Step by step

  1. With the display on, press and hold '+' for about 2 seconds. The headlight and tail light come on and a light icon appears.
  2. Hold '+' again to switch off.
  3. Aventon app (2022+ models): bike > Settings > 'Lights' > Auto / On / Off.
  4. Turn signals (Aventure.2, Level.2, Abound): press the left or right arrow on the button pad; press again to cancel.
  5. Brake light works whenever the display is on, lights on or off.
Tip: Lights switch off with the display, so a bike left on 'Auto' in the app keeps them off overnight.

Can't find it?

If holding '+' only raises the level, hold longer. If the light icon shows but nothing lights up, the headlight plug behind the head tube is loose.

Frequently asked

Only the tail light works.

Headlight connector or the light itself. The rear light is on a separate circuit.

Turn signals do not cancel.

They time out after about 30 seconds on current firmware; update the display firmware from the app.

Do the lights use much battery?

No.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
