Bosch Kiox (BES2): activate and use eBike Lock

Bosch Kiox (BES2)

eBike Lock on the classic Kiox turns your phone into the key: motor support only works when the phone with eBike Connect is nearby. Free, activated once in the app. Five minutes including pairing.

Step by step

  1. Pair the Kiox with the eBike Connect app over Bluetooth first (see the app-pairing guide).
  2. In eBike Connect open Settings > My eBike, select your bike and turn on 'eBike Lock'. Confirm; the Kiox shows a lock symbol on the ride screen.
  3. From now on: switch the bike on, and if the phone with the app is not within Bluetooth range the display shows a lock and the motor gives no support. Bring the phone close (app may need to be open in the background) and it unlocks automatically.
  4. To ride without the phone, or to sell the bike: switch eBike Lock off in the same app menu while connected.
  5. The lock stays with the display: removing the Kiox also prevents the bike from being ridden with support.
Tip: Take the Kiox with you when parking; a locked bike without its display is worth very little to a thief.

Can't find it?

If the lock option is missing, update the Kiox firmware via the app (Bluetooth). If the bike stays locked although your phone is next to it: open eBike Connect, check Bluetooth is on and the bike is connected; as a last resort a Bosch dealer can remove the lock with DiagnosticTool after proof of ownership.

Frequently asked

Is there a PIN code on the Kiox lock?

No, the BUI330 uses the phone as key; PIN entry is not available on this display.

Can I still ride the bike when locked?

Yes, as a normal bike without motor support.

What if I lose my phone?

Log in to eBike Connect on a new phone with the same account and connect; the lock is tied to the account.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
