Bosch Kiox (BES2): change assist modes and what can be customised

Bosch Kiox (BES2)

Modes are chosen with + and − on the control unit; the modes themselves are Bosch factory presets on the Classic Line. The Kiox lets you switch the shift recommendation on or off. No dealer or app needed.

Step by step

  1. Switch the Kiox on. The mode (OFF, ECO, TOUR, SPORT/eMTB, TURBO) is shown with a colour band on the ride screen.
  2. Press + for more support, − for less, also while riding.
  3. OFF: no support, display and lights stay on.
  4. Shift recommendation: Settings > My eBike > 'Shift recommendation' on/off.
  5. There is no menu to change the strength of the individual modes on the BUI330.
Tip: The ride screen's power bar shows how hard the motor is working; a good way to learn where TOUR stops being enough.

Can't find it?

If your bike shows eMTB instead of SPORT, that is set in the drive unit by the manufacturer or dealer. Adjustable custom modes exist only on the Smart System through the eBike Flow app.

Frequently asked

Can I tune ECO or TURBO on the Kiox BUI330?

No; Classic Line support levels are fixed.

How do I get eMTB mode?

Only on Performance Line CX motors, enabled by a dealer in DiagnosticTool.

Why does the range differ so much between modes?

Range is estimated from recent consumption in the current mode; switching to ECO can double it.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
