Bosch Kiox (BES2): set the display brightness
The classic Kiox has a brightness setting under My Kiox, plus automatic mode using its light sensor. One minute.
Step by step
- Switch the Kiox on.
- On the status screen (press < on the control unit until you reach it), press the select button (centre of the control unit) to open 'Settings'.
- Go to 'My Kiox' and confirm.
- Move to 'Brightness'. Choose 'Auto' to let the built-in sensor control it, or a fixed level with + / −.
- Press < to return to the ride screens.
Tip: Auto is the right choice for tunnels and evenings; set a fixed high level only if the sensor sits in the shadow of a bag or phone mount.
Can't find it?
If the screen stays dim in Auto, the light sensor on the front of the Kiox may be covered or dirty. If Brightness is missing, update the firmware via eBike Connect.
Frequently asked
Does brightness affect battery range?
Marginally; the display draws around a watt at full brightness.
Why does the display go dark on its own?
Auto brightness reacts to the sensor; in a dark tunnel it dims and comes back outside.
Is there a night mode?
Not as such; the Kiox darkens its colour scheme automatically when the lights are on.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
