Bosch Kiox (BES2): update the firmware (display via app, drive unit via dealer)

Bosch Kiox (BES2)

The display updates itself over Bluetooth through eBike Connect; drive unit and battery updates still need a dealer with DiagnosticTool. Ten minutes for the display update.

Step by step

  1. Pair the Kiox with eBike Connect (see the app-pairing guide) and keep the bike switched on.
  2. When a display update is available the app shows a notification; tap it and start the update. Keep the phone next to the bike.
  3. The Kiox restarts when done. Check language, units and brightness afterwards; defaults may have returned.
  4. To see versions on the display: Settings > Info (or 'System info') shows Kiox, drive unit and battery versions.
  5. For drive unit or battery updates, or if the app reports 'update via dealer', book a Bosch dealer; they use DiagnosticTool over the diagnostic port.
Tip: Do the display update on a full phone battery and a bike that is switched on; an interrupted update can leave the Kiox on the boot screen until a dealer reflashes it.

Can't find it?

If the app never offers an update, you may already be current, or the phone's Bluetooth connection is unstable; try a different phone. If the Kiox is stuck on the Bosch logo after an update, only a dealer can recover it.

No, only the Kiox display. Drive unit and battery firmware are dealer-only.

How long does it take?
