Bosch Kiox (BES2): turn the lights on and off, always-on lights

Bosch Kiox (BES2)

The light button is on the control unit. Always-on lighting is a manufacturer/dealer setting in the drive unit, not a Kiox menu.

Step by step

  1. Switch the Kiox on.
  2. Press the light button (bulb icon) on the control unit. A light symbol appears in the status bar and the Kiox switches to its dark colour scheme.
  3. Press again to switch off.
  4. If the lights are on from the moment the bike starts and the button does nothing, always-on lighting is configured in DiagnosticTool by the dealer.
  5. Lamps that do not light while the symbol is on point to wiring or the lamp.
Tip: Leaving the lights on by day is fine for range: a few watts against hundreds for the motor.

Can't find it?

The classic Kiox has no automatic light mode of its own; only lamps with a built-in sensor switch automatically. Error codes when pressing the light button: see our error-code pages.

Frequently asked

Can I set the lights to automatic on the Kiox?

Not from the display; always-on is a dealer setting, sensor automation depends on the lamp.

Why can't I turn the lights off?

Always-on lighting is configured for your market; a dealer can change it where allowed.

Does the dark colour scheme mean night mode?

Yes, the Kiox switches to a dark scheme automatically when the lights are on.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
