How to change the language of the VanMoof app

VanMoof S3 / X3 / S5 / A5 (VanMoof app + matrix display)

The VanMoof app has no language menu; it follows the language of your phone. The bike itself shows no text, only numbers and icons.

Step by step

  1. iPhone: Settings > 'VanMoof' > 'Language' and choose the language (iOS 13 and up allow per-app language).
  2. Android: Settings > 'Apps' > 'VanMoof' > 'Language' (Android 13+) or change the system language under Settings > 'System' > 'Languages'.
  3. Force-close and reopen the VanMoof app.
  4. If the app stays in the old language, it does not include your language and falls back to English; supported languages are English, Dutch, German and French.
Tip: The matrix display (S3/X3) and Halo Ring (S5/A5) show only speed, battery and icons; there is nothing to translate on the bike.

Can't find it?

There is no language setting inside the app. If you want English while your phone is in another language, use the per-app language option in iOS / Android.

Frequently asked

Can I set the app to Spanish or Italian?

Not at the moment; it falls back to English.

Does the language affect units?

No. Units (km/h or mph) are a separate setting under Bike settings.

Where do I change units then?

See the units guide: Settings > Bike settings > Units.
