Reset the trip counter (DST, TIME, AVG, MAX) on a Shimano STEPS SC-E6100, SC-E7000 or SC-E8000
Trip values are cleared with the [Clear] item in the settings menu. The odometer (ODO) cannot be reset by the user, which is deliberate: it is your proof of mileage on a second-hand bike.
Step by step
- Stop the bike and switch the system on. Press and hold the assist switch's X (down) and Y (up) buttons at the same time until the [Setting] menu appears. On an SC-E6100 without a switch you can also hold the display's own function button.
- Scroll with the X and Y buttons; confirm with the A (function/light) button.
- Scroll to [Clear] and press A.
- Choose [DST] to clear only the trip distance, or the full clear option if offered, and press A.
- Confirm with A when asked. DST, TIME, AVG and MAX return to zero.
- Scroll to [Exit] and press A.
Can't find it?
No [Clear] item: your bike brand may have removed it. Use E-TUBE Ride, which keeps its own ride log and lets you start a new ride at any time.
Frequently asked
Can I reset the odometer (ODO)?
No. ODO is stored in the drive unit and cannot be reset by the user or the dealer. If a seller claims the bike has done 500 km, ODO is the number to check.
Does resetting the trip also reset the range estimate?
No. Range is calculated live from battery charge and the current assist mode.
My trip distance resets by itself every day. Is that normal?
On some firmware versions the trip auto-clears after a long power-off. E-TUBE Project has an 'auto reset' toggle for this on the display page.
