Set the time on a Shimano STEPS SC-E6100, SC-E7000 or SC-E8000

Shimano STEPS SC-E6100 / SC-E7000 / SC-E8000

The clock is set by hand in the display's [Setting] menu. It does not sync with your phone on this generation, so expect to redo it after a long battery removal.

Step by step

  1. Stop the bike and switch the system on. Press and hold the assist switch's X (down) and Y (up) buttons at the same time until the [Setting] menu appears. On an SC-E6100 without a switch you can also hold the display's own function button.
  2. Scroll with the X and Y buttons; confirm with the A (function/light) button.
  3. Scroll to [Clock] and press A.
  4. The hour digits flash. Use X and Y to change the hour, then press A.
  5. The minute digits flash. Set the minutes with X and Y and press A.
  6. Scroll to [Exit] and press A. The time shows on the ride screen.
Tip: The display keeps time from the main battery. If the battery has been off the bike for a few days the clock resets, so set it after every long storage period.

Can't find it?

No [Clock] item: some bike brands hide it. Connect E-TUBE Project and set the time from the display page there, which also lets you pick 12h/24h format.

Frequently asked

Why does the clock reset every winter?

The display has no backup cell of its own. Removing the battery for weeks drains the small buffer and the clock returns to 00:00. Set it again; nothing is broken.

Can I switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format?

On the display menu you only set the time. The format option lives in E-TUBE Project under the display settings.

Does the clock update automatically for daylight saving?

No. Change it by hand twice a year.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
