Switching the speed unit on an S866 / S830 / S861 display (Fiido, Engwe, Himiway and other hub-motor bikes)

S866 / S830 / S861 LCD (generic hub-motor e-bikes, Fiido, Engwe, Himiway etc.)

The unit is P02: 0 = km/h, 1 = mph. It is behind the settings password on most bikes, which is why so many owners cannot find it.

Step by step

  1. Switch the display on. Press and hold + and − (up and down) together for about 2–3 seconds. On most bikes a password screen appears: enter 1919 (set each digit with + / −, confirm with power). If 1919 is refused, try 0512, 0000 or 8018. The parameter list then opens at P01.
  2. P01 (backlight) shows first. Press power once to reach P02.
  3. Set P02 with + / −: 0 for km/h and kilometres, 1 for mph and miles.
  4. Power (short press) moves to the next parameter; + / − change the value; hold + and − together to save and exit.
  5. Check the riding screen: the unit label next to the speed changes at once; TRIP and ODO relabel too.
Tip: Some brands (e.g. Fiido) ship their own firmware where the unit is a plain menu item called 'Unit' or 'KM/MI' with no password, and where hold − and power for 3 seconds opens it. Same setting, different door.

Can't find it?

No password screen and no settings: hold the buttons longer (some need 5 seconds) and only within the first 10 seconds after power-on. Password refused: the brand changed it; ask the seller, do not buy a new display, the codes above cover 95 % of bikes.

Frequently asked

Does mph mode change the speed limit?

No. P08 stays the same number of km/h internally; it displays converted.

Why does Engwe use miles in Europe?

Factory default for the US market. Set P02 = 0.

Distance history converts?

ODO is stored in km and displayed converted, so nothing is lost.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
