The S866 / S830 / S861 settings password explained

S866 / S830 / S861 LCD (generic hub-motor e-bikes, Fiido, Engwe, Himiway etc.)

The S866 asks for a 4-digit code before it shows the P parameters. 1919 is the factory default; 0512, 0000 and 8018 are used by some brands. These codes are printed in the display manual and known to every dealer.

Step by step

  1. Switch on. Hold + and − together for 2–3 seconds until 'PASSWORD' or four dashes appear.
  2. Set the first digit with + / −, press power to move to the next; enter 1 9 1 9.
  3. Refused? Repeat with 0 5 1 2, then 0 0 0 0, then 8 0 1 8.
  4. Correct code: the list opens at P01. Wrong code three times: the display returns to riding mode, no lock-out; try again.
  5. There is no user-changeable password on stock S866 firmware; the code is fixed in the firmware, so you cannot set your own.
Tip: These codes are published in the manufacturer manuals and on every dealer forum; they are not secrets, but the settings behind them can make the bike illegal or damage the drive, so change one thing at a time and note the old value. A start-up (anti-theft) password exists on some S830 firmware as a separate menu item; it is 4 digits and set by the owner.

Can't find it?

All four codes refused: the brand uses a custom code (Ride1Up, some Lectric and Aventon firmware use 2020, 1234 or 8686; ask their support, they hand it out). Password screen never appears: hold longer, or on Fiido firmware hold − and power instead.

Frequently asked

Is entering 1919 illegal?

No. It is the documented service code. Raising P08 with it and riding on the road is what is illegal.

Does the code persist?

No, enter it each time you open the settings.

Can I set my own password?

Only the start-up password on firmware that has the item; the settings code is fixed.

Manuals and video

These displays are sold unbranded by many factories, so there is no single official manual. Check the manual that came with your bike, or your bike brand's support page.

Videos found on YouTube and checked automatically; they are other people's work, not ours.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
