Walk assist (6 km/h) and cruise control on an S866 / S830 / S861
Hold − for 2 seconds to push the bike at 6 km/h. Cruise control is P17 (0 off, 1 on) and holds the throttle position after a few seconds.
Step by step
- Switch on. Hold − for about 2 seconds; a walk icon or 'P' shows and the motor drives at up to 6 km/h while you keep the button held.
- Release − to stop; brakes also stop it.
- Cruise: hold + and − together for 2–3 seconds, enter the password (1919; else 0512 / 0000 / 8018), press power to P17 and set 1. Power (short press) moves to the next parameter; + / − change the value; hold + and − together to save and exit.
- With cruise on: hold the throttle steady for about 6–8 seconds, the cruise icon appears, release the throttle. Brake or throttle to cancel.
- Set P17 = 0 on a bike that others ride; cruise surprises people.
Tip: On the S830 with the ring throttle, cruise engages easily by accident on rough roads. If you keep it, learn where the brake lever is.
Can't find it?
No walk: P10 = 1 (throttle only) on some firmware disables walk; set P10 = 2. Brake sensor stuck (brake icon on): walk is blocked.
Frequently asked
Cruise legal?
EU: a throttle/cruise above 6 km/h without pedalling is not pedelec-legal. US: fine on Class 2.
Walk assist faster than walking?
Should be 6 km/h; if faster, the controller firmware is non-standard.
Walk on the S861?
Same gesture; the S861 shows a running-person icon.
Manuals and video
These displays are sold unbranded by many factories, so there is no single official manual. Check the manual that came with your bike, or your bike brand's support page.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
