Setting the number of assist levels and pedal-sensor behaviour on an S866 / S830 / S861

S866 / S830 / S861 LCD (generic hub-motor e-bikes, Fiido, Engwe, Himiway etc.)

P05 chooses the level scheme (0–3, 1–3, 0–5, 1–5). P11, P12 and P13 shape how the pedal assist starts; P14 sets the maximum current.

Step by step

  1. Switch the display on. Press and hold + and − (up and down) together for about 2–3 seconds. On most bikes a password screen appears: enter 1919 (set each digit with + / −, confirm with power). If 1919 is refused, try 0512, 0000 or 8018. The parameter list then opens at P01.
  2. Press power to P05. Values: 0 = levels 0–3, 1 = levels 1–3, 2 = levels 0–5, 3 = levels 1–5. Most riders want 2.
  3. P11 = PAS sensitivity (1–24): how many magnet pulses before assist starts; lower = quicker start, 3–5 is a good balance. P12 = PAS start intensity (0–5): how hard the first push is. P13 = number of magnets on the PAS disc (5, 8 or 12); count them, it must match.
  4. P14 = controller current limit in amps (up to the controller's own maximum, e.g. 15 or 22). Lower it to 12–15 A to protect a weak battery or reduce wheel-spin on a fat bike.
  5. P09 = 0 zero start (throttle from standstill) / 1 non-zero start (needs movement first). P10 = drive mode: 0 = pedal assist only, 1 = throttle only, 2 = both.
  6. Power (short press) moves to the next parameter; + / − change the value; hold + and − together to save and exit.
Tip: Level 1 too strong on a 750 W bike: set P12 = 1 and P11 = 6. Assist surges on/off: P13 wrong (usually 12, check the disc).

Can't find it?

P05 missing or fixed: OEM firmware. On some Himiway firmware the count is fixed at 5 and P05 shows but ignores changes.

Frequently asked

Does more levels mean more power?

No, the top level is always P14 amps.

Can I make level 1 a real 'eco'?

Partly: P12 = 0 and P11 high give a soft start, but the per-level current table is in the controller and not editable here.

Assist keeps going after I stop pedalling?

Normal for 0.5–1 s; longer means P11 is very low or the PAS disc is loose.

Manuals and video

These displays are sold unbranded by many factories, so there is no single official manual. Check the manual that came with your bike, or your bike brand's support page.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
