Resetting trip distance and the odometer on an S866 / S830 / S861
TRIP resets on power-off on most S866 firmware. ODO can be zeroed with P16 (hold + for 5 seconds on that parameter), which is one-way.
Step by step
- Press power briefly on the riding screen to cycle TRIP → ODO → (time, voltage).
- TRIP: switch the display off and on; it starts at 0. On S830 firmware with a persistent trip, cycle to TRIP and hold − for 3 seconds.
- ODO: hold + and − together for 2–3 seconds and enter the password (1919; else 0512 / 0000 / 8018). Press power to P16, then hold + for 5 seconds until the value shows 0.
- Power (short press) moves to the next parameter; + / − change the value; hold + and − together to save and exit.
- Confirm ODO shows 0 on the riding screen. There is no undo.
Tip: Reset ODO only after a display swap on a new bike; a buyer of a second-hand e-bike reads a zero ODO as tampering, not as cleanliness.
Can't find it?
P16 does nothing: OEM firmware locks it. TRIP survives power-off: your firmware has a persistent trip; look for the hold-− gesture.
Frequently asked
Does TRIP reset with auto-off?
Yes on firmware where it resets at power-off.
Where is average speed?
Not on the S866; the S830 shows AVG in the cycle.
ODO in km or miles?
Follows P02.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
