Getting the battery bar right on a KT LCD3 / LCD5 / LCD8 (36 V, 48 V, 52 V)
KT displays detect the battery class (24/36/48 V) from the controller at power-on; there is no manual voltage selector. What you can set is C12 (low-voltage cut-off offset) and P5 (how the bar is smoothed).
Step by step
- Switch the display on. Within a few seconds, press and hold ▲ and ▼ together for about 2 seconds: the General Settings screen appears with the maximum speed flashing. From the General Settings screen, hold ▲ and ▼ together again for 2 seconds to reach the P parameters (P1–P5); a third hold reaches the C parameters (C1–C14). Power (short press) steps to the next parameter; ▲ / ▼ change the value; holding ▲ and ▼ again saves and exits.
- P5 = 0 shows real-time voltage-based bars (drops under load, recovers when you stop). P5 = 15–20 smooths that; most riders prefer 15.
- C12 sets the low-voltage cut-off offset 0–7 around the controller default (36 V: ~30 V; 48 V: ~40 V). Raise it by one step if the display cuts out under load with a healthy pack; lower it if you want to use the last 5 %.
- Hold ▲ and ▼ to save.
- 52 V pack on a 48 V controller: the bar will show full for the first third of the ride and then drop quickly; that is because the display assumes 48 V thresholds. Live with it, or watch the voltage readout (press power short to cycle to the V field on the LCD3) instead of the bars.
Can't find it?
Bars jump from 4 to 1 under load and back: voltage sag from an ageing pack or thin wires, not the display. Display resets on hard acceleration: C12 too high or the pack is worn; also check the battery contacts.
Frequently asked
Can I set 52 V on an LCD3?
No. Only the LCD8H with newer firmware has a 52 V option in the C menu on some controllers.
Why does the bar show full immediately after a short charge?
P5 smoothing; set P5 = 0 to see real-time.
Does C12 protect the battery?
The BMS in the battery is the real protection; C12 only sets when the controller stops early.
Manuals and video
These displays are sold unbranded by many factories, so there is no single official manual. Check the manual that came with your bike, or your bike brand's support page.
