Start-up password on a KT LCD3 / LCD5 / LCD8 (parameter C9)
KT displays have no service code; the settings are open. The only password is the optional 4-digit start-up code you enable with C9.
Step by step
- Switch the display on. Within a few seconds, press and hold ▲ and ▼ together for about 2 seconds: the General Settings screen appears with the maximum speed flashing. From the General Settings screen, hold ▲ and ▼ together again for 2 seconds to reach the P parameters (P1–P5); a third hold reaches the C parameters (C1–C14). Power (short press) steps to the next parameter; ▲ / ▼ change the value; holding ▲ and ▼ again saves and exits.
- Step to C9 with the power button. Set it to 1 with ▲.
- Press power: four digits appear. Set each with ▲ / ▼ and confirm with power.
- Hold ▲ and ▼ to save. From now on the display asks for the code at every power-on (30 seconds to enter it, then it switches off).
- To remove: enter the code, go to C9, set 0, save.
Tip: If you forget the code the display is not permanently bricked: C10 (restore defaults) is unreachable without the code, but disconnecting the display from the controller for 24 hours does not clear it either. A new LCD3 costs less than an hour of dealer time; keep the code where you keep your bike keys.
Can't find it?
Display asks for a code you never set: previous owner. Try 0000, 1234, 1111, 8888 (common defaults). Forum claims that 1919 or 0512 work on KT displays are wrong; those are S866 codes.
Frequently asked
Is there a hidden service menu?
No. P and C parameters are all there is.
Does the password disable the bike?
Only the motor. The display switches off after 30 s without the code.
Can the dealer reset it?
Only by replacing the display; KT has no dealer tool.
Manuals and video
These displays are sold unbranded by many factories, so there is no single official manual. Check the manual that came with your bike, or your bike brand's support page.
Videos found on YouTube and checked automatically; they are other people's work, not ours.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
