Changing the speed unit on a KT LCD3, LCD5 or LCD8 (Kunteng) display

KT LCD3 / LCD5 / LCD8 (Kunteng controllers)

The unit is the third screen of General Settings on every KT display: max speed → wheel diameter → km/h-mph. Three presses.

Step by step

  1. Switch the display on. Within a few seconds, press and hold ▲ and ▼ together for about 2 seconds: the General Settings screen appears with the maximum speed flashing.
  2. The max speed value flashes. Press the power button briefly to skip to the next screen (wheel diameter).
  3. Press power briefly again: the unit screen shows 'km/h' or 'MPH' flashing.
  4. Press ▲ or ▼ to switch between km/h and MPH.
  5. Hold ▲ and ▼ together for 2 seconds to save and return to the riding screen (or wait ~10 s without pressing anything; the LCD3 saves and exits by itself).
  6. Check: speed, TRIP and ODO now carry the new unit.
Tip: On the LCD8H the three general items are shown together on one page; use power to move the cursor between them. The unit is stored in the display, so a replacement display needs setting again.

Can't find it?

If holding ▲ and ▼ starts walk assist or the light, you pressed them a fraction apart; press both at exactly the same time. If the settings screen never appears, the display has a C9 start-up password or the LCD5's 'hold ▲ + power' variant: try holding ▲ and power together.

Frequently asked

Does the max speed change when I switch to mph?

The number is converted (25 km/h shows 15 mph) but the cut-off does not change.

The LCD5 has only two buttons?

Yes: hold ▲ and ▼ still works; power is on the ▲ button (long press).

Unit reverts after power-off?

You exited without saving; use the ▲+▼ hold or let it time out.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
