Adjusting the backlight brightness on a KT LCD3 / LCD5 / LCD8

KT LCD3 / LCD5 / LCD8 (Kunteng controllers)

Backlight is parameter C6, 1–5. Hold ▲ for 2 seconds on the riding screen toggles it on and off together with the lights.

Step by step

  1. Switch the display on. Within a few seconds, press and hold ▲ and ▼ together for about 2 seconds: the General Settings screen appears with the maximum speed flashing. From the General Settings screen, hold ▲ and ▼ together again for 2 seconds to reach the P parameters (P1–P5); a third hold reaches the C parameters (C1–C14). Power (short press) steps to the next parameter; ▲ / ▼ change the value; holding ▲ and ▼ again saves and exits.
  2. Step to C6 with power. Set 1–5 with ▲ / ▼.
  3. Hold ▲ and ▼ to save.
  4. On the riding screen hold ▲ for 2 seconds to switch the backlight and light output on or off.
Tip: The LCD3 is readable in daylight without backlight; keep C6 at 2 for night and use the ▲ toggle. The LCD8H has a colour TFT that needs the backlight always on; there C6 is the daytime level.

Can't find it?

Backlight only comes on with the light: that is how KT designed it, the two share the ▲ hold. If the backlight is on permanently, C6 is high and the light toggle is on; hold ▲.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
