Bosch Intuvia: wheel circumference (visible, but dealer-set)

Bosch Intuvia

The configuration menu shows the wheel circumference, but on the Intuvia you cannot change it yourself: Bosch locks it in DiagnosticTool because it defines the 25 km/h cut-off. Dealer visit needed to change it.

Step by step

  1. Switch the bike on and open the configuration menu with reset + i.
  2. Press i until you reach 'Wheel circumference' (value in mm, e.g. 2200).
  3. The value is read-only on the Intuvia; + and − will not change it.
  4. If the value does not match your wheel (check tyre size against a circumference table or roll-out measurement), note the correct figure and ask a Bosch dealer to set it in DiagnosticTool.
  5. Hold reset for about 3 seconds to leave the menu.
Tip: Roll-out measurement is the most accurate: mark the tyre, ride one full wheel turn on a flat floor with your weight on the bike, measure the distance in mm.

Can't find it?

If speed is consistently a few percent off, it is the circumference. If speed jumps or drops to zero while riding, it is the speed sensor and spoke magnet, which you can fix by realigning them.

Frequently asked

Why is the wheel size locked on a Bosch?

It sets the real speed at which assistance stops (25 km/h by law). Bosch therefore only lets dealers change it.

I changed to a different tyre size, does it matter?

A few millimetres of tyre width changes circumference by about 1%; a different wheel size matters more. Have it set at the next service.

Could a wrong circumference trigger an error code?

Not on its own. Error 503/504 relate to the speed sensor signal, not the stored circumference.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
