Bosch Intuvia: change assist modes and what can be customised

Bosch Intuvia

Modes are selected with + and − on the control unit next to the grip. The mode characteristics are fixed by Bosch on the Classic Line; the Intuvia only adds the shift recommendation you can switch on or off. No dealer or app needed.

Step by step

  1. Switch the bike on. The current mode (OFF, ECO, TOUR, SPORT or eMTB, TURBO) is shown on the left of the Intuvia screen.
  2. Press + on the control unit for more support, − for less. This works while riding.
  3. OFF gives no support but keeps the display, lights and walk assist available.
  4. To switch the shift recommendation (arrow suggesting a gear change) on or off: open the configuration menu with reset + i, press i to 'Shift recommendation', choose with + / −, hold reset 3 seconds to save.
  5. There is no menu to adjust how strong ECO, TOUR, SPORT or TURBO are.
Tip: TOUR is the everyday mode: roughly double the support of ECO for far less battery than TURBO.

Can't find it?

If you see eMTB instead of SPORT, or only three modes, that is determined by the drive unit and its firmware, set by the manufacturer or dealer in DiagnosticTool. Custom, adjustable modes only exist on the Smart System via the eBike Flow app.

Frequently asked

Can I tune the assist modes on an Intuvia?

No. Support factors on the Classic Line are fixed; only mode selection and the shift recommendation are yours.

What is the shift recommendation?

An arrow on the display suggesting a higher or lower gear to keep cadence in the efficient range. You can switch it off in the configuration menu.

Can a dealer enable eMTB on my bike?

On Performance Line CX (BES2) motors, yes, via DiagnosticTool.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
