How to clear TRIP, average and max speed on a Bafang 850C / 860C / 500C

Bafang 850C / 860C / 500C / 750C colour displays

A short press of the power button (or i) cycles the data field; the reset itself is a menu item, Display Setting → Trip Reset, on all colour displays.

Step by step

  1. Switch on, then press and hold + and − together (on a 860C with an M/i button: hold + and − as well, or press i twice on some firmware) for about 2 seconds until the Setting menu opens.
  2. Open Display Setting and scroll to Trip Reset (500C: 'Clear TRIP').
  3. Press power, choose Yes with + / −, confirm with power.
  4. Back → Exit.
  5. Press power (or i) briefly to cycle to TRIP: it should show 0.0 with trip time 00:00.
Tip: Trip Reset clears TRIP distance, trip time, AVG speed and MAX speed at once. ODO stays. If you use the trip counter to track charge cycles, reset it every time you plug the charger in.

Can't find it?

The 860C with the newer 'Bafang Go' firmware puts Trip Reset under Information instead. If you cannot find it in either place, holding i for 3 seconds on the riding screen does the same on some OEM firmware.

Frequently asked

Can I reset ODO?

No, not from the display. ODO is lifetime distance.

Trip counter zeroes by itself?

Check Auto Off: on some firmware the trip clears when the display auto-powers-off. Set Auto Off to 10 min or OFF.

Trip and ODO show different units?

They cannot; both follow the Unit setting. If they differ the display has a firmware glitch: power cycle it.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
