Use walk assist on a Shimano EP8/EP6 with an SC-EM800, SC-EN600 or SC-EN500
Same logic as all STEPS: step down to OFF, once more to [WALK], then hold the down button.
Step by step
- Stop. Press X (down) on the switch until OFF shows.
- Press X again; the display shows [WALK].
- Hold X. The motor pushes at up to 6 km/h while held; on EP8 it starts smoothly after about a second.
- Release to stop; press Y to return to riding modes.
Tip: Low gear first on derailleur bikes. EP8 walk assist is noticeably stronger in a low gear.
Can't find it?
No [WALK]: brand disabled it in E-TUBE Project or the region does not allow it. A dealer can check.
Frequently asked
Walk assist cuts out on steep ramps.
It stops when the wheel stalls; keep the bike moving and use a lower gear.
Can walk speed be raised?
No.
Walk assist works but is very weak.
Low gear, and check tyre pressure. It is a 6 km/h push, not a lift.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
