Switch lights on and off on a Shimano EP8/EP6 bike with an SC-EM800, SC-EN600 or SC-EN500
Lights on the drive unit's light output toggle with the A (light) button on the switch. Automatic and always-on modes are set in E-TUBE Project.
Step by step
- Switch on. Press the A/light button on the SW-EM800 (or on the display on an SC-EN600). A light icon appears.
- Press again to switch off.
- E-TUBE Project > [Customize] > [Light]: choose manual, auto (ambient sensor) or always-on if the brand allows.
- If the button does nothing, check the [Switch] page in E-TUBE Project: the A button can be mapped to other functions.
Tip: Many EP8 mountain bikes have no lights wired; the icon still appears because the output is enabled. That is harmless.
Can't find it?
Icon shows, lamp dark: check the light connector. No icon: [Light] disabled in E-TUBE Project.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
