Change units (mph to km/h) on a Shimano STEPS SC-EM800, SC-EN600 or SC-EN500
Units are in the display settings menu. On the EM800 the menu is opened from the switch, not from the display, which is what trips most people up.
Step by step
- Stop the bike and switch it on. Press and hold both assist buttons (X and Y) on the SW-EM800 switch at the same time until the settings menu opens. On an SC-EN600 with buttons on the display, hold the display's function button instead.
- Scroll with X/Y, confirm with the A (function) button.
- Scroll to [Unit] and press A.
- Choose [km] or [mile] and press A.
- Scroll to [Exit] and press A. Speed and distance now show in the chosen unit.
Tip: The E-TUBE Ride app has its own unit setting; set both if you use the phone as a second screen.
Can't find it?
No [Unit] item on the display: some brands trim the menu. Use E-TUBE Project > [Customize] > display and set it there.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
