How pedal assist levels work on Ride1Up bikes and what you can change
Ride1Up bikes have PAS 0 to 5 (Roadster 0 to 5, Prodigy 3 Brose modes). Cadence-sensor models (700, Core-5, Turbo original) give fixed power per level; torque-sensor models (LMT'D, Turbo 2024+, Prodigy) scale with effort.
Step by step
- Press '+'/'-' to change the level; it shows on the display.
- Level 0 = no assist; throttle still works on models with one.
- Assist strength per level is fixed on cadence models. The advanced menu may show a 'PAS' / 'C' setting that changes the number of levels (3/5/9) on KD displays; leave it at 5.
- Torque-sensor models: pedal harder for more power; level sets the multiplier.
- Prodigy (Brose): Eco / Tour / Sport via the display; no customisation without dealer software.
Tip: On a cadence-sensor Ride1Up, level 1 to 2 in town; level 3+ surges at junctions.
Can't find it?
If levels jump 0 to 3 to 5, the level count is set to 3; change it back in the advanced menu.
Frequently asked
Assist is late on the 700 Series.
Cadence sensor; normal. If it is more than one crank turn, realign the sensor ring.
Can I limit level 5 for another rider?
Use the speed-limit setting.
Why does my LMT'D feel weaker than a 700?
Torque sensor; it gives what your legs give. Push harder.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
