How to set the correct wheel size on the Rad Power Bikes LCD display
Wheel size lives in the Advanced Settings of the Rad LCD. If it is wrong, speed, distance and the cut-off are all off. Use the size Rad specifies per model, not the tyre sidewall.
Step by step
- Turn the display on, then press and hold the Up and Down arrows together for about 2 seconds to open the Settings menu.
- From the Settings screen, press and hold Up and Down again for 2 seconds to enter Advanced Settings (a password screen may appear: enter 0512 with Up/Down and MODE).
- Press MODE until the wheel-size screen appears (shows a number such as 26 or 20).
- Set the value: RadRover / RadRover 6 Plus 26; RadCity (older) 26, RadCity 5 Plus 27.5 (set 27 if 27.5 is unavailable); RadRunner / RadMini / RadExpand 20; RadWagon 4 22 (set 22); RadMission 27.5.
- Hold MODE for 2 seconds to save. Ride 1 km against a phone GPS and compare speed; adjust by one size if it is more than 3% out.
- Newer Rad LCD (2022+): the wheel size is fixed per model and not user-adjustable.
Tip: Fat-tyre bikes (RadRover) read close to real speed at '26' despite the 4-inch tyre; do not 'correct' to 29.
Can't find it?
If the password screen rejects 0512, try 1919 (early 2018 displays). If there is no Advanced Settings at all, you have the newer locked display.
Frequently asked
Why is wheel size not the tyre size?
The controller wants the rolling circumference class the motor was calibrated for; Rad's per-model values already account for tyre width.
Speed reads 10% high after a tyre change.
Rolling circumference changed. Try one size down in the menu.
Does a wrong wheel size raise the top speed?
Yes, a smaller setting makes the controller think it is going slower and assists past 20 mph. That is illegal in class 2 and voids the warranty.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
