How to pair the Mahle My SmartBike app with an X35 or X20 bike and fix pairing failures
Mahle ebikemotion X35 and X20 systems connect to the My SmartBike app (formerly 'ebikemotion') over Bluetooth. The bike must be awake via the iWoc button.
Step by step
- Install 'My SmartBike' (the old 'ebikemotion' app is discontinued), create an account, allow Bluetooth (Android: also Location).
- Wake the bike: press the iWoc button on the top tube once; the LED lights up.
- In the app tap 'Add bike' and choose 'Scan'. The bike appears as 'MAHLE' or 'EBM' plus a code.
- Tap it; the app asks for the bike's registration. Enter the serial from the frame sticker or scan the QR code on the registration card.
- The app shows battery, assist level and range.
- Not found: check the battery is charged (X35: LED on iWoc must light), no other phone is connected, and Bluetooth is on. Switch the bike off and on with the iWoc and retry.
- Still nothing on X35 bikes from before 2019: the Bluetooth module may need a firmware update by a dealer first.
Tip: The iWoc goes to sleep after a few minutes; wake it before opening the app.
Can't find it?
If the app says 'Bike registered to another user', the previous owner must remove it in their app, or Mahle support can with proof of purchase.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
