How to set the wheel size (P06) and speed-sensor magnets (P07) on a Lectric display

Lectric XP 2.0 / 3.0 / XPedition display

Wheel size (P06) and the number of speed-sensor magnets (P07) together tell the controller how fast you are going. Wrong values shift speed, distance and the cut-off.

Step by step

  1. With the display on and the bike stationary, press and hold '+' and '-' together for about 1 second to open the P-settings menu (P01 appears).
  2. Press power/M until P06 shows. Set the wheel size: XP 2.0 / 3.0 / XP Lite / XP Step-Thru 20 (20-inch fat tyre); XPedition 20; XPremium 20; XPeak 26.
  3. Press power/M to P07 (magnet count). Lectric hub motors use 1 magnet on most XP 2.0/3.0; XPedition and XP 3.0 later production use the motor's internal sensor and P07 is set to 1 as well. Leave it unless speed is obviously wrong.
  4. Hold '+' and '-' to save and exit.
  5. Ride against phone GPS; if speed is more than 3% off, check P06 first, then P07.
Tip: Do not enter 20.5 or 22 for a 20 x 4 fat tyre; the controller uses Lectric's calibration at '20'.

Can't find it?

If the menu jumps from P05 to P08, your firmware hides P06/P07; they are locked to the model.

Frequently asked

Can I lower P06 to go faster?

Yes, technically, and it makes the bike illegal and unreliable (wrong distance, cut-off). Use P08 within the legal class instead.

Speed reads double.

P07 set to 2 while the sensor has 1 magnet, or vice versa.

Which magnet count for a replacement motor?

The Lectric replacement motor is a plug-in match; keep 1.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
