Change units (mph to km/h) on a Yamaha PW e-bike display (Display A, Display C, Display X, Interface X)
On Display A and C the unit toggles in the display's setting mode. On Display X it is a menu item, and on the screen-less Interface X it is an app setting. Bike brands on Yamaha motors (Haibike, Winora, Giant SyncDrive) sometimes rename menu items but the route is the same.
Step by step
- Stop the bike and switch on. On Display A or Display C press and hold the function button (the small button under or beside the screen) for about two seconds until the setting screen appears.
- Short presses step through items and values; a long press confirms. On Display X use the switch's up/down buttons and confirm with the centre button; on Interface X (LEDs only) all settings are in the app.
- Step to the unit item (shown as km/h and mph, or 'Unit').
- Toggle to km/h and confirm with a long press (Display A/C) or the centre button (Display X).
- Exit the setting screen (long press or [Exit]). Speed and ODO now show in km.
- Interface X: open the Yamaha e-bike app, connect, and change units under settings.
Tip: Some Display A firmware toggles units differently: show the ODO screen, then hold the function button until the unit flashes. Try this if the setting screen has no unit item.
Can't find it?
No setting screen at all: on OEM versions (e.g. some Haibike/Winora builds) the brand locked the display and the change is done with the dealer's Yamaha diagnostic tool.
Frequently asked
Does the Yamaha unit setting change the assist limit?
No. The 25 km/h cut-off is fixed in the drive unit for the region.
Which button is the function button on Display C?
The small button below the screen, separate from the assist up/down switch on the left grip.
My Giant with a Yamaha motor has a different display.
Giant uses its own RideControl on SyncDrive bikes; see the Giant RideControl guides.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
