Pair a Yamaha Display X or Interface X with the Yamaha e-bike app
Only the Display X and Interface X generation has Bluetooth. Display A and Display C cannot pair with any app. Bike brands sometimes use their own app (Haibike, Giant) instead of Yamaha's, so check the manual for the app name.
Step by step
- Confirm your display is a Display X (colour screen) or Interface X (LED bar with Bluetooth). If it is a Display A or C, stop here: no app.
- Install the Yamaha e-bike app (or the bike brand's app if the manual names one).
- Switch the bike on. On Display X open the menu and turn Bluetooth ON, or put it in pairing mode. On Interface X hold the button until the Bluetooth LED blinks.
- In the app choose 'add bike' and select the display; confirm the code shown on the display (Display X) or on the sticker/card supplied with the bike (Interface X).
- Wait until the app shows battery and assist mode.
- Pair only in the app, not in the phone's Bluetooth settings.
Tip: Interface X pairing codes are on the card in the bike's document wallet. Second-hand without the card: a dealer can read it.
Can't find it?
App finds nothing: another phone still connected, Bluetooth off on the display, or (Android) no location permission. Switch the bike off for ten seconds and retry.

Which app for a Haibike with Yamaha motor?
Haibike has used its own app on some model years. Check the bike manual; the Yamaha app only works if the brand enabled it.
Can the app update firmware?
