Use walk assist on a Yamaha PW e-bike (Display A, C, X, Interface X)

Yamaha PW displays (Display A, Display C, Interface X, Display X)

Yamaha calls it push assist. You hold the assist-down button (or a dedicated walk button on some switches) and the motor pushes at up to 6 km/h.

Step by step

  1. Stop and switch on. Select any assist mode except OFF.
  2. Press and hold the assist-down button on the switch. After about a second the display shows a walk symbol and the motor starts pushing.
  3. Keep the button held while walking; release to stop.
  4. On switches with a separate walk (footprint) button, hold that button instead.
  5. On Display X the walk symbol appears in the top bar; on Interface X the LEDs flash while pushing.
Tip: Shift to a low gear first; the push is much stronger.

Can't find it?

Nothing happens: walk assist is disabled on your OEM version (some city bikes), or the wheel is blocked. A dealer can enable it where the region allows.
