Change units (mph to km/h) on a Specialized Turbo with TCU, TCD or Mastermind TCU/TCD
On a TCD or Mastermind display the unit is a display setting; on a plain TCU (LED bar in the top tube) there is nothing to set on the bike and units are an app setting.
Step by step
- Mastermind TCU/TCD: from the ride screen hold the remote's S button (or long-press the display button) to open Settings, choose [Units], pick Metric, confirm.
- TCD (2019-2021 mono display): hold the TCD's lower button for two seconds to open settings, step to Units, toggle to km/h, confirm.
- Plain TCU: Open the Mission Control app (or the Specialized app on 2022+ Mastermind bikes), switch the bike on and connect (see the pairing guide). Open Settings > Units > Metric.
- Restart the bike and check the speed shown.
- Mission Control and the display store units separately on older firmware; set both.
Tip: Imported US bike showing 20 mph cut-off: changing units does not change the limit. That is a region setting the dealer can only change with proof the bike is registered in the EU.
Can't find it?
No Units item on a Mastermind: firmware too old. Update through the app, then it appears.
Frequently asked
Does km/h vs mph change the assist cut-off?
No. Region (EU 25 km/h, US 20/28 mph) is separate and dealer-set.
Which display do I have?
TCU: LEDs in the top tube, no screen. TCD: small mono bar display. Mastermind TCU: colour screen in the top tube (2021+). Mastermind TCD: colour bar display.
Do I need the app for a Mastermind?
No, the display has the setting.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
