Bosch Smart System: update the firmware over the air with eBike Flow
On the Smart System all components (drive unit, display, battery, remote) update over Bluetooth through eBike Flow; a dealer is only needed if an update fails. Fifteen to thirty minutes.
Step by step
- Charge the bike battery to at least 50% and your phone well; keep the bike switched on and the phone next to it.
- Open eBike Flow; if an update is available a banner appears, or go to Settings (gear) > your eBike > 'Updates'.
- Tap 'Install'. The app transfers the update to the bike; the display or LEDs show progress. Do not switch the bike off or leave Bluetooth range.
- The system restarts once or twice. Wait until the app reports the update as completed.
- Check units, language and riding modes afterwards; some updates reset display defaults.
- If the app reports 'update via dealer' or the bike does not restart, a Bosch dealer completes it with DiagnosticTool.
Tip: Do updates at home on a normal Bluetooth link; an interrupted update in a car park is the usual reason for a bike stuck in update mode.
Can't find it?
If no update is offered although you expect one, update the app itself first and reconnect. Each manufacturer approves updates for their models, so a new Bosch version can be available on one brand before another.
