Bosch Smart System: customise the riding modes in eBike Flow
The Smart System is the one Bosch generation where you can tune the modes yourself: eBike Flow lets you adjust support, maximum torque and dynamics per mode. Five minutes in the app, no dealer.
Step by step
- Switch the bike on and open eBike Flow; wait for the bike to connect.
- Tap Settings (gear) > your eBike > 'Riding modes' (older app versions: 'Ride modes').
- Select a mode, e.g. Tour+ or Turbo. Adjust the sliders 'Support', 'Max. torque' and 'Dynamics' (and 'Starting behaviour' on some motors) within the ranges Bosch allows.
- Save. The changes are written to the drive unit and apply immediately; the display shows the mode as before.
- Selecting modes while riding: + / − on the LED Remote or Mini Remote. Purion 200 and Intuvia 100 also use + / −.
- To go back to Bosch defaults, use 'Reset' in the same screen.
Can't find it?
If Riding modes is missing, update app and bike firmware; the feature came with 2023 firmware and only on Smart System drive units (BDU37xx/38xx). The number of modes and their names (Eco, Tour, Tour+, eMTB, Sport, Auto, Turbo) depend on the drive unit and manufacturer.
Frequently asked
Can I make Turbo stronger than factory?
You can adjust within the range Bosch allows; the maximum torque of the motor is a hard limit.
What is 'Auto' mode?
An adaptive mode on newer Smart System firmware that varies support with terrain and effort.
Will custom modes affect range?
Yes; higher support and torque use more energy. The app's range estimate updates as you ride.
