Dapu error 24: Battery voltage detected too low
The controller has measured the battery pack voltage dropping below the normal operating window. To protect the cells from permanent deep-discharge damage, the motor cuts assist and the walk-assist function is also disabled. The display will show the error and the bike effectively rides as an unpowered bicycle until the pack voltage recovers.

Likely causes
- Battery left unused or uncharged for weeks and self-discharged below the cutoff
- Charger not delivering a full charge or charger failure on the bench
- Aged or unbalanced battery cells that sag heavily under any load
- Dirty, loose or corroded contacts between the battery and frame
- Cold weather pulling the pack voltage below the safe limit at start-up
- Internal BMS latch or controller misread causing a false low-voltage flag
How to fix Dapu error 24
- Switch the bike off and remove the battery from the frame.
- Connect the original charger and leave the battery on charge until the LED shows full - this may take several hours if the pack is deeply discharged.
- If the charger indicator never reaches full, try a known-good charger with the same voltage and connector.
- Test the bike with a different, fully charged compatible battery of the same voltage rating.
- Clean the battery rails and frame contacts with a dry cloth, refit the battery firmly and switch the system on to see if the code clears.
- If error 24 returns with a healthy, fully charged battery, the controller or the pack BMS is the source of the fault.
- Book the bike in with a Dapu service dealer for diagnostic and component-level testing.
Warranty: A genuine battery or controller fault inside the typical two-year warranty window is normally covered by the manufacturer, whereas damage from prolonged deep discharge, water ingress, crashes or unauthorised modification is treated as wear and excluded.
Typical cost: A home charge costs nothing, a dealer diagnostic runs €40 to €120, a replacement battery pack €180 to €450 fitted, and a Dapu controller replacement €90 to €250 fitted depending on the bike model.
Frequently asked
Can I reset dapu error 24?
There is no user reset button that clears this code. Turn the system off, leave the battery on the charger until it is genuinely full, then switch on again - if the code clears the controller recovered on its own. If 24 returns straight away, the controller logs need to be read by a dealer.
Is it safe to keep riding with this fault?
No, not under power. The controller has cut motor assist to protect the battery, so the bike rides as a heavy unpowered bicycle. Continuing to ride on a deeply discharged pack can permanently damage the cells and is not worth the risk.
Will this repair cost me anything under warranty?
If the battery or controller has failed inside the standard two-year warranty under normal use, the manufacturer covers parts and labour. Out of warranty expect €180 to €450 for a battery and €90 to €250 for a controller, plus the €40 to €120 diagnostic fee.
