Dapu error 10: Display lost communication with controller
The controller has stopped receiving normal communication data from the LCD for an extended period, so the bike shuts down motor assist as a precaution. Throttle response, pedal assist and walk assist all drop out, and the speed reading usually falls to zero even while the display stays powered. In short, the display can talk but the motor side of the system is not listening, which is why the bike feels dead.

Likely causes
- LCD cable not fully seated or partially unplugged at the display or controller end
- Bent, pushed-back or corroded pins inside the display or controller connector
- LCD cable damaged by frame flex, a zip-tie pinch or poor routing through the head tube
- Water ingress into the display connector, the controller connector or both
- Internal failure of the LCD display unit
- Internal failure of the controller's serial communication circuit
How to fix Dapu error 10
- Switch the system off and remove the battery before touching any electrical connector.
- Unplug the LCD cable at both the display and the controller and inspect the pins for bending, corrosion or pushed-back contacts.
- Re-seat both connectors firmly until each one clicks or its collar locks into place.
- Refit the battery, power the bike up and ride briefly to check whether the code has cleared.
- If the code returns, swap in a known-good LCD cable and retest.
- If the code still returns, fit a known-good LCD; a cleared fault points at the original display.
- If the code persists with both a new cable and a new LCD, the controller itself is suspect and the bike must go to a dealer for bench diagnosis and possible replacement.
Warranty: A communication fault traced to the LCD, cable or controller inside the standard two-year warranty window is normally treated as a component defect, while crash damage, water ingress and DIY wiring mistakes are excluded.

Frequently asked
Can I reset dapu error 10?
A power-off, remove the battery for a minute, then power up again will clear the code if it was caused by a transient cable contact. If the code returns on the next ride, the LCD cable, the LCD itself or the controller is at fault and needs work, not another reset.
Is it safe to keep riding with this code on?
No. Motor assist, throttle and walk assist all cut out, and the speed reading can sit at zero, so the bike only rolls under your own leg power and behaves unpredictably on hills or in traffic. Switch off, diagnose, and only ride again once the code is gone.
What will the repair cost and is it covered?
A cable or LCD fix typically lands between €15 and €180 depending on the brand, and a controller replacement runs €200-300 fitted. Warranty usually pays for the part inside the first two years when there is no sign of water damage, a crash or unauthorised wiring.
