Enabling or disabling the throttle on an SW900, EN06 or KD718 and the legal position
SW900 and EN06: P10 = 0 pedal only, 1 throttle only, 2 both; P09 = zero start (0) or moving start (1). The KD718 and 810LED have no throttle setting; unplug the throttle to disable.
Step by step
- Switch the display on. Within 10 seconds, press and hold ▲ and ▼ (or + and −) together for about 2 seconds until P01 appears. Most SW900 have no password; if a code is requested, the published defaults are 1919 or 8018.
- Press power to P10: 0 = PAS only (EU-legal), 1 = throttle only, 2 = both.
- Press power to P09: 0 = throttle from standstill, 1 = only once moving.
- Power (short press) moves to the next parameter; ▲ / ▼ change the value; hold ▲ and ▼ together to save and exit.
- KD718 / 810LED: unplug the 3-pin throttle connector to disable; there is no menu item.
- Test with the rear wheel lifted first.
Tip: Legal note: in the EU a throttle that drives the bike above 6 km/h without pedalling takes it out of the pedelec class (it needs L1e type approval, plates and insurance). In the UK a full-speed 'twist and go' is only legal on bikes that were type-approved as such; the 6 km/h walk-speed throttle is fine. In the USA a throttle up to 20 mph is legal on Class 2 e-bikes but not on Class 1 or 3, and many trails ban throttle bikes outright.
Can't find it?
Throttle dead: level 0, brake icon, or E04-type throttle Hall error. Motor runs on its own at power-up: throttle short, unplug it now.
Frequently asked
EU-legal?
P10 = 0 or a 6 km/h controller cap.
Can I keep throttle to 6 km/h only?
Only if the controller supports it; the SW900 menu has no throttle speed cap.
Throttle stronger than pedal assist?
Throttle ignores the level on many controllers and gives P14 amps; normal.

Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
