Speed limit on an SW900, EN06 or KD718 display and the law
P08 on the SW900 and EN06 is the assist cut-off in km/h; on the KD718 it is a menu item 'Speed limit' under Advanced with the 8018 code on some firmware.
Step by step
- Switch the display on. Within 10 seconds, press and hold ▲ and ▼ (or + and −) together for about 2 seconds until P01 appears. Most SW900 have no password; if a code is requested, the published defaults are 1919 or 8018.
- Press power to P08. Set the cut-off (10–72 km/h; 100 = unlimited on some firmware).
- Power (short press) moves to the next parameter; ▲ / ▼ change the value; hold ▲ and ▼ together to save and exit.
- KD718: hold ▲ and ▼ → Advanced → code 8018 if asked → Speed limit → set → Exit.
- Test ride on private ground; then set 25 km/h (EU/UK) or 32 km/h / 20 mph (US Class 1/2) for the road.
Tip: Legal assist cut-off on public roads: EU and UK 25 km/h (15.5 mph) with a 250 W nominal motor; USA 20 mph for Class 1 and 2, 28 mph pedal-assist only for Class 3 (state rules vary). Raising the limit above that turns the bike into an unregistered moped: no insurance cover in a crash, police can confiscate it, and the motor warranty is void. Keep the higher setting for private land only.
Can't find it?
Cut-off stays at 25 regardless: controller hard limit or speed-limit wire; P08 is then cosmetic. Bike faster than P08: P06/P07 or P18 wrong.

Manuals and video
These displays are sold unbranded by many factories, so there is no single official manual. Check the manual that came with your bike, or your bike brand's support page.
